With the end of Amazon Autumn Membership Day on October 10th and 11th, the platform peak season has officially begun.
Amazon has previously issued a notice that it will start collecting peak season delivery fees from October 15th. Starting from last Sunday, the policy will officially take effect and the fees will be implemented. Sellers are generally facing a shipping increase of $0.2- $0.5, with larger items experiencing more price increases and sellers' profits once again being squeezed. Not only the delivery fee, but also the storage fee during the peak season will be charged starting from this month, which is slightly higher than last year.
Peak season FBA delivery fee
The annual holiday peak delivery fee for Amazon Shipping (FBA) will apply from October 15, 2023 to January 14, 2024. This seasonal fee is similar to the fees charged by other major carriers during the busy holiday shopping season, covering the increased delivery and transportation operating costs during the holiday period.
It is worth noting that products priced below $10 do not incur peak season delivery fees.
The low-priced products (priced ≤ $10) that replaced the light and small plan in August are not affected by the delivery fees during the 2023 holiday season. Still using normal FBA delivery fees.
From the cost details above, it can be seen that the FBA delivery cost for each product has also increased significantly. When formulating Q4 operation plans, not only should we consider year-end stock preparation and inventory adjustments, but also consider the increased FBA costs as appropriate, after all, this increase is not low. Especially in the peak season, the return rate has greatly increased.
express
FedEx Demand Surcharge. Starting from September 4, 2023, FedEx has renamed all surcharges named "peak" to "demand". These demand surcharges are mainly applied to residential, FedEx Ground, and FedEx Express packages.
UPS's peak season surcharge will start on October 1st, and the attachment fee for packages that require "additional processing" in the United States is $3.50/piece. However, during the peak season, this fee has increased to $6.90, an increase of nearly 100%.
It should be noted that in addition to announcing the collection plan for peak season surcharges, both FedEx and UPS have announced a comprehensive increase in package rates starting from next year.
Peak season storage fee
In addition to peak season delivery fees, Amazon's peak season storage fees have also started to rise this month.
Compared to last year, from October 1st to December, the peak season monthly storage fees for large items have increased from $1.2 per cubic foot to $1.4, an increase of $0.2. Sellers will actually feel this wave of cost increase in the October storage fees charged in November.
Meanwhile, the peak season storage fee for standard size products remains unchanged from last year, at $2.4 per cubic foot.
